Happy International Women's Day!
Did you know that the Kortni Jeane team is made up of 16 amazing women? Well and Vinni of course! He's lucky to be surrounded by some of the most incredible women on the planet! For International Women's Day we interviewed everyone in the office to give you a taste of all the incredible personalities we have here. First, everyone shared what they do here at Kortni Jeane, their favorite ice-cream flavor, and the best place they've ever swam (KJ priorities!) Then, we dug a little deeper into how being a woman shapes all of our lives and how other women have truly shaped ours! We were moved to tears by all of the responses! Every answer was unique, relatable, and beyond inspiring!
Being a woman is awesome. Yeah it’s hard, I'm not denying that, but the community women create to support, help, and uplift one another is pretty amazing. Plus our swimsuits are more fun!
Being a woman in business I think allows a lot of opportunity to do things with a new perspective. I love having a space that’s mine. I love feeling I’ve accomplished something everyday, even if it’s just small.
Running a woman-run business rules! I love the connection each woman has with each other, the communication throughout the workspace, the support and encouragement given between positions, and the willingness each person has to help each other, even when it’s not their “job”.
My mom. Typical right? But she’s so tough, doesn’t let anyone push her around, sticks up for what she believes in always, and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. That’s a strong woman.
I would have to say that I love being a woman because of our nurturing nature. I don't have any children but I think this quality applies to all we do! Whether it's raising a family or growing a business as women, I believe we love to see the things we hold most dear to us thrive and be successful!
Women have some remarkable attributes that can help grow any business! Personally, I believe that being a woman helps me be more sensitive and empathetic with the other girls at work and be able to connect and work more effectively with both men and women that I need to establish working relationships with.
I LOVE working with so many amazing women! We all get along and have fun developing these friendships. Everyone is respectful and supportive of each other. Having an all girl office brings a unique feeling of unity and empowerment that I don't think you could get anywhere else!
I'd have to say my mom! She chose to stay at home to raise us while we were little. Once we were a little older, she started teaching so that she could have a similar schedule to us. From there she hasn't stopped growing her career and she is now an assistant superintendent! Not only does she work hard to be successful, but she also always makes time for her family. My dad and her kids are her #1 priority. She is strong, independent, and loving, and I hope that I can be just like her!
I love being a woman for a lot of reasons but one that quickly comes to mind is that being a woman means I was able to carry & birth my handsome sweet son. It’s the coolest thing I’ll ever do in my life.
I honestly never really think about how me being a woman influences my job, because in my mind it’s just always made sense that both men & women work. So, if people ever underestimated my talent or expertise in the workplace simply because I am a woman, I probably haven’t noticed because I’ve always been confident in what I can offer professionally.
I love getting to know other women no matter what, but especially in an office where we join forces to add our personal splash to KJ. It’s really amazing to be in an office where every single woman that surrounds you is strong, intelligent, & empowering. We just collaborate and encourage each other always, and that’s pretty cool.
My mom will forever be the woman who has inspired me the most in my lifetime (also Oprah is pretty high up there because duh???) My mom has shown me how hard we can work while also being a good mother, a sweet friend, and a hundred other roles if we want to be those as well. We can be whatever or whoever we want, and one major way we get there is by supporting one another — never tearing others down.
Honestly I think my favorite thing about being a woman is all the feminine girly things. I love the empowerment I feel wearing a little black dress or a bold red lip. There is just this certain confidence that I feel like women can only truly understand.
Being a woman has a huge impact on my job here at KJ. Here at KJ we are all about body empowerment, especially toward women, and sometimes I think only women understand. We personally know how it feels when you first get stretch marks, or the first time you put a bathing suit on after having a baby. Stuff like that can be SO hard for women, and if I can help create content that will make a women feel just a bit more confident, then I know I've succeeded.
Working in an office full of girls is AMAZING. But don't get me wrong, it can also be challenging, but can't any office? There will always be people who just don't mesh well, whether it's an office of all girls or boys! We truly have a team right now that works SO WELL together and I honestly feel like I'm spending the day with friends. When you have an environment like that, you truly are motivated to work harder!
I love being a woman because it’s EMPOWERING! The women in my life are always lifting me up and encouraging me to reach my goals, and I try to do the same for others. It’s like being part of the best club ever!!!
Oh, I LOVE this girl gang that we have going at KJ! Being part of an all-woman team has been such an amazing experience. I know that my voice is heard, and Kortni has shown me that you really can make your dreams come true! The ultimate #girlboss amiright?!
I think it helps push me to work harder be better!
All of the unity and support from the other women!
Ellen DeGeneres because she always talks about how important it is to accept and be kind to others.
What I love most about being a woman is dressing up, wearing fun clothes, and trying fun/unique hairstyles! I LOVE shopping and finding that perfect outfit I feel stellar in!
I love working in an office full of women like this at KJ because we show just what women are capable of! I love that we can help and support one other, and be each other’s cheerleaders!
A woman who inspires me is definitely my mom! She is the best person I’ve ever met! She has the kindest heart, and is always thinking about and serving others. She’s always there for me, and exemplifies what it means to be a confident woman. She is also one of the most fashionable people I know! She’s also one of my favorite people to shop with!
I love that as a woman there are SO many opportunities that we have to grow within ourselves. I am your typical girly-girl, through and through but I also love that I can be SO much more than just that. I have earned my college degree, I have become independent as I moved across the country several different times (not knowing a single soul!) to live and discover new places while supporting myself, and I am continually amazed with what I can do as I continue to push myself and look forward to what is to come in the future. There is SO much we can do as women, and I think it is so important for us to support of one another and realize our worth!
I think it is comforting for our customers to know that there are so many different types of women working at Kortni Jeane, so there is always someone you can relate to. Whether it’s sizing, styling, or picking cute accessories, there will always be a girl at KJ who can relate to our customers and help them in the absolute best way possible!
I love seeing how all of our boss babes THRIVE at what they do! Everyone is so SO good at what they do and it’s inspiring to see them work while they’re in their own creative space.
My sister has always been my #1 favorite person. In elementary school, my teachers would often have us “dedicate” our school projects to someone that inspired us and I would pick her every time! Growing up I always wanted to be JUST LIKE her, and I still do! She is the kindest person you will EVER meet and is the cutest mom to her crazy kids. The world would be a much better place with more people as sweet as her!
One of my favorite things about being a woman is how we can be strong and soft at the same time. I also love the “nurturing” role that we have. I honestly love nothing more than making others feel good about themselves and being there for them, especially to other women. I feel like that’s something that comes easier to us and I’m so grateful for that because this world needs it!
Because I am on the creative team, being a woman has definitely helped! I’ve always been grateful for my ability to be creative and I also work with the most talented ladies which has been so fun!
My mom is my biggest inspiration! She is a creative genius and is always coming up with new ideas. She has been through a lot but has never stopped moving forward with a smile on her face. She has ALWAYS put her kids first. She honestly loves nothing more than being a mom, and as her daughter I’ve appreciated that so much. All I want is to be like her one day!
Most of our customers are women so being a woman myself I feel like I empathize with them more.
We all have similar interests and go through similar life experiences, so it makes it fun!
What I like best about being a woman is that I can share clothes with my sisters and roommates. If I were a boy, my wardrobe would be very small.
I think that most people who work in a warehouse are men, or at least that's who we think works in warehouses. I'm not going to lie, sometimes I wish I were a man so all the lifting didn't get so tiring, but the longer I work here the stronger I get, which negates the need for a man.
I love working in an office full of women! We are all such great friends and can talk about anything and everything so freely! We have so much fun, especially since we are all in the warehouse due to renovations.
I can't pick just one woman. I grew up in a house full of girls, my mom and three sisters, and leaving any of them out would get me in trouble. Every single one of them is doing incredible things. My mom never graduated college, so she went back and got her degree. I have one sister who just gave birth to her second child and another who is kicking butt in grad school. And my little sister is navigating the rough world of junior high with grace. I'm surrounded by inspiring women, and for that I am so thankful.
I love being a woman because the truth is that we run the world. 🤷🏼♀️
I love working in a office full of women because everyone is always so positive and fun. My coworkers inspire me to be better.
Any woman with a successful business. From a small business like my mom’s to a big business like Kortni Jeane. My goal ever since I was a child has been to own a business. I am just starting to begin that process now and I am so excited to see how it goes for me!
There are many stereotypes that people have with women. As a woman I LOVE all of those stereotypes! I love going shopping. I love using my emotions as an excuse for some Ben and Jerry’s. I love pink. I love needing to travel in a pack when going to the bathroom. I love makeup. I love to make cute boys treats. I love getting my hair and nails done. I love to take an hour to get ready in the morning. I love to chit chat. And I love the idea of being a cool mom one day!! I love being a woman! We are capable of anything and we look good doing it!
I think my job as a fulfillment team member is very gender neutral, but being a woman in this job adds some fun flare to it! We chit-chat about boys, dance around the warehouse to Ariana Grande, and support each other as we work!!
Working in an office of all gals is a blast and a half! We all get along because there is no bachelor situation going on where we are all fighting over the one guy! It’s fun to come to work and know that I have people there who want to hear about the awkward date I had, or how I rocked my presentation in class! We are all fun, motivated, caring, smart, problem solving, loving, and friendly women, who wouldn’t love being surrounded by that???
I think women have a natural desire to create. I completely identify with that, and I think that’s a big part of what makes me feel special as a woman. Everything I do in my job, my hobbies, and my role in my family has to do with this innate desire to create.
I love the relationships we have with each other and being able to work with some of the most creative women every day! We also have a LOT of fun together! Coming from a family of six girls, I’m used to hanging out with girls all day and this environment couldn’t be more perfect for me. This business was created by a woman for women, and now it's run by women. There's nothing more powerful!
I love being a woman! The ability to be able to take so much, yet give so much back is something that I find amazing. I honestly don’t know how we do it! We have the ability to care, love, and be compassionate for ourselves and others, but at the same time be strong, courageous, and firm in the most graceful way! I love these traits that we have been given as a woman!
Being a woman influences many parts of my life in a positive way. However, in the workplace I feel like being a woman in a company that empowers women helps me relate to the needs of the women emailing in and asking for some help. I am able to somehow put myself in their shoes which allows me to help them in a way only a woman could!
Throughout life I have honestly come across some amazing woman of strength! However, I have got to say that my biggest inspiration has always been my beautiful mom! You know I haven’t always seen eye to eye with my mom, but nonetheless I know that I couldn’t ask for someone better for me! My mom is a woman that sticks by you through and through, but she is also not afraid to teach you a lesson when you really need one. For me, that has shaped the woman I am today and I could not be more grateful! She is the definition of a woman of strength and I have to say I have been blessed with the best! Love you Mom!!!
I think the thing I love most about being a woman is the ability to be emotional. Crazy I know, but it’s true. I cry over EVERYTHING....the Jonas Brothers, a yummy pineapple, soda, kind people, and the movie Pearl Harbor. You name it, and I have probably cried about it and to me that’s a beautiful thing. I think it’s a beautiful thing that I find joy in the simplest things whether that be a good soda or a beautiful sunset. I think being emotional makes you strong, even though it often has the opposite connotation. I believe in chasing what it is that makes you feel the sun from the inside out and what a beautiful thing it is that so many different things bring me that much joy. I also love cute boys. Like really really love cute boys and that kinda rocks too.
Being a woman completely influences every aspect of my job. I spend all day, everyday (okay not everyday but 5 days a week) communicating with our customers and listening to them and all they have to share, whether that be something good or bad. I truly want to help make a difference in someone's life, even if they are just purchasing a swimsuit. To me it is so much more. The way we communicate with people is everything. The way we make others feel about themselves is everything. Being a woman, I think it helps me empathize with our customers more often. I take each and every email way more seriously than I probably should (the emotional side of me), but that's because I want so badly to make this such a simple process for them and let them know that I am listening and I do care and I know without a doubt that being a woman has helped me reach this potential.
I WORK WITH BOSS BABES! Everybody here is so different and brings so much to the table and what an amazing opportunity that is! What an amazing opportunity it is to work with so many people who are all so different and yet vibe SO WELL together. We are literally all best friends here. We root each other on and that's more amazing than anything. LIKE WHAT A CONCEPT, women supporting women!!! Incredible folks. I come to work every day so excited and so confident that we are going to accomplish something so special here. We laugh, we cry (well I cry) and we cheer each other on in our successes!
OH MAN, okay let’s try and get through this. 1000% my mother. My mother inspires me more than anybody in the entire world. That woman has endured more in her entire life than anybody should ever have too. I have watched her battle through loss, health issues, and endless heartache...and GUYS she still ALWAYS smiles!! Like what!! It blows my mind. She has every right to throw herself a pity party and she never once has! In the last 10 years of my life, my dad has had cancer, my sister was diagnosed with MS, my mom's dad passed away, my 18 year old brother’s best friend passed away, and my mom is currently fighting her SECOND brain tumor, and she is the happiest person I have ever met. She is so positive about everything in life and has a heart the size of a lion (is that a saying I heard that's a saying??). Well whatever the saying is, it could not be more true. I’ve never met a more positive, loving woman in my entire 24 years of living. She is my rock in life and supports me in whatever it is I choose to do. She is all of my friend’s second mom and she sends them flowers, calls them, and texts them just because she wants them to know how loved they always are. What an angel! Whoa, okay this was a lot longer than it should’ve been. Hello I am Alexis. I cry over everything and I want to be my mom when I grow up.
